NUCLEUS

NUCLEUS

Nucleus is usually a dense, spherical or oval organelle. In a young cell, it occupies a central position. In the mature plant cell, with the formation of the vacuole, it is shifted to one side of a cell. Usually a single nucleus is present in each cell, but in some cells may have more than one nucleus like bacteria and blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).

The nucleus is surrounded by a double layer membrane called nuclear envelope, which separate it from the cytoplasm. is a colorless dense sap present inside the nuclear membrane known as nuclear sap nucleoplasm.

Inside the nucleoplasm there is a triangular mass of threadlike structure called chromatin. They are formed of an acid called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and protein.

FUNCTION:  The nucleus is the storehouse of genes . Genes control the production of enzymes . they also order the cell to perform spacialized function function such as cell division, cell secretion, cell communication etc .
